Meanwhile, mortgage rates drop for the third week in a row. That gives home buyers more power in paying for a home. The interest rate on a 30-year fixed rate mortgage decreased to 6.32%, according to Freddie Mac. The rate has dropped almost three points in the past three weeks.
The state of California is offering down payments to first time home buyers. It’s called the “Dream For All Shared Appreciation Loan Program.” It helps first time home buyers with their down payments. Initially, the state funded $500 million for the program.
